Indian Members of Parliament face extraordinary odds in discharging their parliamentary and other duties each day. Some of the challenges concern difficulties in the prioritisation of policy issues, political communications, and crisis management. Despite efforts, MPs across party lines need support in developing effective strategies to convey the positive impact of various interventions. To resolve these constraints, MPs require domain experts passionate about direct engagement with Indian Polity. Onboarding young professionals is crucial for formulating timely insights, policy nuances, and political strategies, in alignment with the unique vision of each MP.

In pursuit of this goal, BharatGAIN introduces the Kartavya Fellowship, a public policy and strategic communications initiative for young professionals, designed to meet the functional demands of Indian Members of Parliament. The programme shall onboard experienced Public Policy and Communications career professionals as fellows, who shall be assigned to MPs to assist them in addressing various policy challenges, and end-to-end management of each MP’s work priorities, both at the parliamentary and constituency levels.

Through the Kartavya Fellowship , BharatGAIN aims to:

• Execute a formidable programme that can significantly enhance each MP’s capacity to achieve their stated objectives.
• Facilitate experienced fellows that possess the requisite skills to work in tandem with the MPs and their offices for a period of one year, with the ambition of devising and delivering robust public policy and strategic communications plans.
